Cape Cod Part ONE

We just got back from our week at the Cape! I have to say, I wasn't expecting for it to go smoothly. The kids just don't travel well...ever. While there were many bumps in the road, the kids did great for the most part. Tim just started his new job, so he wasn't able to take the week off, but I went up with the kids and my mom and sister. This was my first trip to the Cape EVER. I now understand what all the fuss is about. It's AWESOME! My mom rented a house in Eastham. It's pretty far down, about 30 minutes from Provincetown. It was the most adorable little cottage with woods all around. We couldn't see ANY neighbors and we were a just a short walk to the beach. There was the waterfront properties and then us. We were that close! We spent each day at the beach and sampled some of the local seafood. What could be better than a lobster that was in the water that day?!

One of the highlights for the kids, was a bag of popsicles found in the freezer.

Dillon got two splinters during our time there and a popsicle was one of the only things that would calm the poor kid down!
Most of the shots are of the kids with pops in their mouths!
This was the front yard of our cottage. It was so private and quiet! There was a little mowed are just beyond the trees with a big climbing tree and rope swing.
This was our beach at high tide.

After swimming and nap, we would exercise. Aunt Emilie loved showing the kids how to stretch. It was so cute.
After our exercise, we would go back to the beach and at low tide it looked like THIS. Completely different. This really wowed me. All of the boats that were docked were just resting right on the sand.

The sun would set right here. It was gorgeous. The kids loved catching hermit crabs, snails, and little fish. We would build dams in the little rivers and Dillon loved making little "aquariums."

One day we went to Coast Guard Beach on the ocean side. It was beautiful and interesting, but SOOOO cold. The water was 61 degrees on the day we went. The wind was icy when it blew from the ocean! It was really neat to see people riding waves and surfing. We could also see seals. They were really cool to see. I never realized how big they were. They were the size of a person. I tried to get some on camera, but didn't have any luck.

And to make it REALLY exciting, the beach had been featured on Shark Week the week before!
One evening, we went mini golfing. It was the first time for the kids. Dillon LOVED it. He did every hole twice. Louise didn't really get it and just watched and threw a tantrum or two.

We went out to eat!
Aunt Emilie really bonded with the kids. Louise especially loved following Aunt Emilie around. Every time Aunt Emilie would go to her cottage, Louise would run out the front door and follow her. They would "get ready" together there. Louise would always come back with her hair brushed and lips covered in lip gloss!

This is Aunt Emilie's little cottage. This was supposed to be where I would stay with the kids, but the cottage had a loft with a really steep, high ladder. Also, it didn't help that the kids were completely freaked out to sleep up there.
We had a nice little grill and picnic table.
And the outdoor shower! Oh my it was awesome!!
For our last night, we went out for a lobster dinner. It was the best lobster I've ever had. We all had a great time.

More pictures coming soon!
